Tectoy and Sega's Partnership in Brazil

Mensagem por Bruttus »

Tectoy was the exclusive distributor of Sega consoles in Brazil, launching the Master System and Mega Drive in the late 1980s and early 1990s, respectively. Unlike many companies that used reverse engineering, Tectoy partnered with Sega to bring the consoles to Brazil, where they became extremely popular, dominating the market. Tectoy also handled manufacturing, localization, and even developed exclusive games and hardware, contributing significantly to the history of gaming in Brazil and ensuring the longevity of Sega's classic systems.

Sega's Origins
Sega began in 1940 as Standard Games, a coin-operated game company in Hawaii.
After a move to Japan in 1952, it became Service Games of Japan.
Sega's first home consoles, the SG-1000 and SG-3000, debuted in Japan in 1983.
